2009 Festival: An evening of poetry and music

An evening (25th April 2009) at the London Buddhist Centre including poems read by Vishvantara and Maitreyabandhu, interspersed with music performed by Vimalachitta and Phil Ball.

Vishvantara Julia Lewis has read her poems in venues as diverse as a pub in Wolverhampton and The Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Her poems have been published in magazines and anthologies, and in 2008 she was awarded a Hawthornden Fellowship by the Hawthornden Literary Institute.

Maitreyabandhu won 1st prize in the Manchester Cathedral International Religious Poetry Competition in 2007, and 2nd prize in 2008. In 2009 he was awarded a place on the Jerwood /Arvon Mentoring Scheme. He has published a book on friendship, as well as many articles on Buddhism. His new book ‘Life with Full Attention’ is due out this year.
