Over 100 people casually strolled through the green pathways of north London on Sunday 3 May 09. The six mile walk, organised by Metropolitan Walkers in conjunction with Slow Down London, began at Highgate, meandered through the lush landscapes of Crouch End, Finsbury Park and Stoke Newington on the capital ring, before taking a detour through a leafy area of Canonbury. I’ve lived in London a long time – and have lived Central, South, West and North and found special places to go to slow down in all of them. I’m back in the North again now, and have many favourite green spaces for slowing down – Hampstead Heath, Highgate Woods, Primrose Hill and Waterlow Park.
